Hi, I recently bought a Sony Vaio VGN-N21M/W and I'm not happy with the graphics, is it possible to change a integrated graphics chip.
Thanks
Hi blue_dragon,
Welcome to Club Vaio..
Unfortunately not, as the graphics chips are soldered to the mother board..
Hi blue_dragon and welcome to Club Vaio.
It is not possible to upgrade the graphics in laptops. Because of the lack of space, the graphics chips are soldered into the main board by hundreds of connections and cannot be economically changed.
This is one of the biggest drawbacks of using a laptop rather than a desktop. With a laptop you have to make sure the specifications fit your needs before you buy because they are not upgradeable.
Your Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 is a competent and inexpensive general purpose chip that can run Vista OK but it cannot cope with many modern games.
EDIT: Evening Thalamus !!!
Thanks for replying guys. When I bought the laptop it had Windows Vista Home Premium pre installed and I though since it have Vista then it must have a good graphics because I know to run Vista you need a good graphics card, but I'm still happy with it
it's a cool looking laptop.
You're welcome blue-dragon..
Evening to you too Blencogo..
