HELLLLPPPP!!!

Hey,
Ive got a N11-VGN Vaio..
It was working fine untill this morning..it randomly started restarting on its' own!!!
After many failed attempts to keep it switched on longer than 2 mins, i decided perhaps i should just revcover it to factory state...i tried doing this on 1 occasion where the laptop stayed on long enough for me 2 even try...however, before the programme started it switched off yet again!
then by looking in the manual i tried to recover it using the F10 at start up when the VAIO logo forst appears when you turn the laptop on....but yet again it just wont stay on & presents a blue and white screen statingsome error has taken place!!!....HELPPPP i need my laptop for work...im currently having to use my Dads!!!

Hi azmina and welcome to the forum.

Have you tried starting in Safe Mode (tap F8 when you see the Sony logo)? If this boots successfully then let us know as we can advise on how to stop automatic shutdown on Blue Screen, thus giving time to read the error mesage.

Also detach any external devices prior to switching on…

EDIT: please only post once on any topic as mutiple posts cause confusion and waste precious time. I have deleted your identical thread in the Solutions room  …Or I would have done if someone hadn’t already done so LOL

Thanks for your reply...its very much appreciated...! (sorry abt posting twice...:$ just desperatly need 2 get the laptop working...
Ever since i tried using the vaio recovery tool via pressing F10 at start up...as soon as the vaio logo comes up when switched on it tries to launch straight into the recovery programme then switches itself off..
It's now got to a point that if i try switch it on, it restarts and starts like 3 times then if i try switch it on the 3 lights for caplock, numlock & scrol lock light up but thats it!...the screen remains blank..!
i really think im a lost cause now...:(

Hi azmina,

You have not said whether you have tried accessing Safe Mode by tapping F8, or are you unable to get as far as this option?

If this is the case then the only option, I can think of, is to use a CD boot utility to format the hard drive and then try the recovery disks. Be aware that if you format the drive, as opposed to the C partition you will lose the recovery partition. It is therefore important that whichever utility you use has the option to select the partition ( C: ) to format and not the entire hard drive.

BTW have you allowed your notebook to cool down for a couple of hours before re-booting. If not then you could possibly be experiencing an overheating issue.

Since your last reply, i haven't been able to get as far as to choose the safe mode option. currently im just gonna wait untill the morning to try again as my laptops not switching on properly at all...its jus the case of the blank screen i mentioned earlier...

As for recovery disks...i dont have any! and nor did i get the chance to make my own...so i guess if the safe mode option doesnt work im pretty messed up...:(
thanks again!
