Hi Aleoangel
Welcome to ClubVAIO

Is this for the Windows Logon screen
I have had this problem before, you can possibly start up in Safe mode & enter the System Admin account & then navigate your way to the User accounts. You then possibly have two options you could delete your account making sure you don't delete the data with it however since i don't know your exact OS you maybe able to reset your password for the account

As your Computer comes to Boot tap F8 (possibly F9) thats after the noise you hear then you will be brought to a menu it will list several options you need to boot in safe mode with command prompt

right....bit of an update

having torn my hair out for 4 hours, i tried the safe mode...
not much luck until my husband suggested trying my only known password, but this time typing it in "keyboard on screen" mode... this worked and i opened my new vista desktop to find all my old windows settings....

so have opened a new account and starting again....am just pleased to be back in business and will be doing my rcovery disks toute suite.

thanks for interst and help, was distraught because up til then had been nothing but delighted...

Glad to here you got there

When it comes to main system passwords i have one that i only know & use it for everything system based then come situations such as this there is only one option, every other password i have my trusty ROBOFORM to automatically remember & submit it

That is actually a hidden security feature, You must have entered it by the keyboard in the first place. Its like having an added precaution when adding your password it really annoys me clicking each button on the on screen keypad
