My CDRW/DVD drive no longer ejects by itself. I have to poke a small bit of wire into the hole in the side of the drive to get it to open.
I can hear my poor vaio trying to pop it open, but it just isnt able to... I dont know why, or how to fix it. I have cleaned it, asked it nicely, I even banged it! (crule I know).
Anyone have any ideas? or does anyone else have this problem? I have a PCG-FX702, up to now, I havent had any problems at all, and its about 4 years old.
and SoftEject?
i think there is 3 way to eject it.. using software (media player programme), the button on the drive and the tiny hole on the drive.
Have you try it all?
maybe you need is a good WD40 and give it a good spray
joking..
Just in case you don¿t understand `Soft Eject¿, in My Computer right click on the drive and select Eject.
The actual functions are working, but the mechanism in the cd-rw/dvd drive is not working.

Are you saying that when you right click the drive and select eject it opens, but when you press the drive button you can hear it trying to open and nothing happens:smileyconfused:
No, It doesnt open at all unless I poke a small bit of metal or a pin into the hole on the drive.
so you saying its try to open but somehow stuck and only can be open with poking the small hole?
Yep!
