Inserting/removing battery whilst Notebook Vaio is on

Hi there

Just bought a VGN-FE21H and was wondering if it's possible to insert or remove the battery pack whilst the computer is on and connected to the mains without damaging the battery or the computer? Can't seem to find any information on this question elsewhere. Also wondering what the best way of maintaining battery life is, e.g. leaving the battery pack in all the time v. removing it when the computer is plugged into the mains.

Yeah details are in the operating instructions. Don't remove the battery or plug it in when the mains are on. As you can imagine it is not a switch and if you engage the battery it may arc causing a powersurge either through the battery or the computer or both. Shut down then remove the battery or plug it in. The battery does not wear whilst in the bay only discharging and recharging causes wear. However if you are confident of your mains power supply then take the battery out and use it once a month to keep it in good condition.
