Hello,
The wireless adapter in my S3XP is disconnecting about once every 3 minutes and its really starting to annoy me! The adapter is the Intel 2200BG.
The network is ad-hoc and the other wireless adapter is a Linksys WUSB11 situated right next to the notebook.
I've read on other forums that lots of people are having the same problem. Just wondering if anyone here has a problem with their Sony? Has anyone got a fix?
Thanks.
I think it must be a Windows bug. I had the same problem with my D-Link Wlan card, after a systemrecovery. A second systemrecovery has fixed the problem.:smileyconfused:
But I have no idea, what was wrong.
Try un-checking the 802.x authentication box. Worked for me on my T2XP.
I had a problem like you before, but I know what had happened. I have find the way to fixed the problem.
When you use the Wi-Fi for the internet, did it appeared like (more than one networks were found)? then about 3 minutes later it disconnecting.
Consider that it may be a software problem.
Check if the setings of Outlook are affecting your system. It may be checking for e-mails every few minutes and trying to disconnect.

Thanks for the replies
I found this 12 page thread which discusses the problem:

I'm going to try the new software now.
I have tried all the suggested updates but no sucess!
If I use an external Wirelss Adapter from Belkin I have no disconnction problems at all.
I have spoken to Sony support and they do NOT know of any such issue affecting all S3HP laptops.
They said if I sent it in to Sony they would test connecting my laptop to another one to confirm if there was a problem with my network card. They would NOT try to connect my computer to a wireless router since they say they do not supply the router.
They suggested I take my laptop into a Sony store and try to conduct this test of connecting to another laptop there. I will do this when I get a chance and let you know the outcome.
Upgrading the driver has stopped mine from fluctuating between 1.0Mbps and 11.0Mbps. Its now at 11.0Mbps whenever I've checked. The frequency of the little window popping up to tell me that the wireless network has reconnected has decreased from around every 5 mins to about once every half an hour. I'm still having trouble using Skype. Apparently i'm cutting out all the time.
