Memory

Hi all. I have some questions. I have Vaio VGN-fe21SR.

I'm going to upgrade my vaio - 1 gb sdram instead of 512.
But there're a lot of types of SDram's: SO-DDR2 PC5300/ 5400 1024Mb Aeneon, SO-DDR2 PC4200/ 4300 1024Mb Kingston and so on. Could you explain me plz what PC5300 & PC 4200 means, and what kind of it is better to buy ?

Hi Master1985,

welcome to Club Vaio..

pc4200 is slower than pc5300, however as the RAM is backward compatible the PC5300 modules will default to 533MHz speed.

According to the specs your FE21SR uses DDR2 533mhz So-Dimm modules.

Have a look at Cruical.com

Several members have bought extra RAM from here and also another benefit from buying from Crucial is there memory compatibility guarantee.

Also you may find this guide, from Sony, on how to upgrade your Vaio's memory of interest..
