I tried playing a region 1 DVD disc on my Vaio FS115B and it won't play it. I got myself the DVD Region Free software, installed it and it still won't work.
Any ideas?

i still dont get it
how douse this help with multi region or am i missing the point
It ignores region codes on the DVD and just plays it like it was a MR drive
I thnk you can set your DVD regions for 6 times, once you had set for the last time it will be fix on the last region that you choose.
Nope,
only 4 times.
Hey lads
I use Slysoft AnyDVD to watch imported movies (I like my Asian movies but I don't wanna pay EUR35 for them in the Virgin megastore!)
You have to pay to register it, but its definitely one of the best for removing region info, basically it runs in the background and allows the copyrighted or region-protected DVD to act like its not got copyright info or region info. Use as many different region discs as many times as you want, doesn't change the region on your hardware.
Best of all, the company is registered in St Johns, Antigua! Copyright and patent law hasn't caught up with that particular region yet, so the product can be sold legally and unhindered.
Anyway, its available at www.slysoft.com
And I don't work for them, seriously, I just think its a good product.
Dave
35 Euros! Blooming hell, Virgin are robbers!
Thanks for the heads up Dave.
I have heard good reports of RegionKiller 2 which is free. I haven't tried it but I undersatnd that this also runs in the background.
