Multi-region DVD on FS115B?

I tried playing a region 1 DVD disc on my Vaio FS115B and it won't play it. I got myself the DVD Region Free software, installed it and it still won't work.

Any ideas?

I Tried with VLC but my driver is still LOCKED.
Why the hell of Matshita doesn't upgrade this firmware.
A notebook is an instrument for people who have to travel not to be on a desk. You know what i mean to lock DVD is CRAZY on a notebook.

has anyone tried using Alcohol 120% to copy the disc to the virtual drive it sets up and then play it from there?
A bit of a farting around I know, but would it work?

Emailed VAIO support and here is the response that I got...

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for contacting us. We cannot support the use of any region changing software. Your device has been set to a particular region depending on region of purchase. You may change this only 5 times after which the drive will be locked to the last region selected.
