There are a few possibilitys you can go with

1) You stick with Vista & the Vaio apps

As it come pre-installed your recovery partion will also have Vista on

2) You Can clean install with XP

This means you would loose the Recovery Partion along with the VAIO Applications to which you will not be able to get back

3) You can cross your fingers in hope that is you do clean install someone on here may know of compatable drivers from another VAIO system allowing you to use the VAIO apps.

4) If number 3 works run to your local computer shop & purchase the latest Acronis True Image 10 & then create a image of your system exact after XP & the relevent drivers are in place & keep it well safe.

Hopefully someone may know of the drivers :four_leaf_clover:

You can buy XP from any computer store, like Amazon

Just to clarify - Installing XP will not delete the original recovery partition unless you first format the entire drive. A fresh install of XP will leave the Recovery Partition intact and you should be able to return to the original configuration using either F10 at startup or the recovery disks…

That said you may well encounter utility and driver problems as Sony only offer support for Vista with this model.
