Networking my laptop

Hi,

I managed to link my aptop to my computer using a cross-over cable and i am able to connect to the internet through it but i was wondering if theres a way to tranfer files between the laptop and the computer please? Any ideas?

Hi tman16,

All you have to do is enable file sharing on each computer, nominate which folders or drives you wish to share by right-clicking on the folder (or Drive) and choosing Sharing and Security. You will need to check that the firewalls does not block the connection.

I shared a few folders on my computer bt how do i look at them from my laptop please?

Go to my network places
Click on your PC you wish to browse
You should see the shared folders.

I dont see any computers in there

Do either laptop/desktop have a firewall?

yes they both have norton internet security 2006. But i allowed the connection in the firewall. When i try connect to the computer from laptop another way it says i do ot have permission when i have created sharing files.

That happened to me, I had to add the IP as a safe zone
