No backlight controls in the Vaio control centre after Windows 8 upgrade

After upgrading to Windows 8 using the CD with the drivers I noticed that the backlight controls were no longer present meaning that now I have no control over my laptop backlight. My model is sve1511c5e. From what I have read I am not the only peorson experiencing this problem.

Without knowing how you installed Windows 8, it is difficult to help.

Did you use the Sony Upgrade Kit and follow Sony's instructions when installing from the Windows 8 CD?
