The request to start my Norton online backup trial keeps coming back to haunt me - how do you get rid of it? If there are any guides to getting rid of this and any other junk pre-installed on new Vaios please send me a link. Thanx
A
Disable it in the startup programs
Hi AndyZed
You should be able to remove Norton by doing the following..
Click Start then Control Panel.
depending on your operating system:
For Windows Vista, click Uninstall a Program.
For Windows XP, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Select Norton Antivirus from the list of currently installed programs and then click Remove or Uninstall.
If you have a problem uninstalling Norton from your Vaio then you can download and run the Norton Removal Tool, use the following link to download: the Norton Removal Tool ..
Hi Andy. Go to Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove programs then uninstall anything that says "Norton"
I think you will uninstall two softwares including the Norton updater.

Online backup services are a good way to have an offsite backup, but you must have a local backup too especially with large files because it might take several hours to recover your data in case of a hard drive crash. I use MYPCBackup, the service is reliable and not expensive.
