Nothing happens when i boot my computer! Not even BIOS screen!

Hi,
Tried to recover my Sony Vaio A417S (see this thread http://club.vaio.sony.eu/clubvaio/gb/en/forum/viewthread?thread=40479)

Now everytime i boot up nothing happens - the screen stays black, the fan stays off, but the power light is on and the CD drive opens and spins.

Any ideas?

Does the hard drive click into action?

I cant hear the hard drive spin or click. CAPS key and NUMLOCK key dont light up when hit.
Power and WiFi light lights up and the CD drive seems to be operational - (spins and opens/closes)
But apart from that the laptop appears dead. Ive got a funny feeling i possibly fryed the BIOS chip...
