Problems with my VGN-A497XP
My vaio notebook started to be a pain a while back, just out of Sony (Manufacturer) warranty actually, but it has got to the point at which I am going to contact tech support and get some info next week.
- DVD/CD Drive not reading various commercial (pressed) cd's and DVD's (Known problem that others have) and definatly not a driver issue, must be hardware, this one did happen a few times in warranty but only once or twice so I put it down to disk issues and returned the disks to the shop.
- Overheating which I had to buy a notebook cooler for, which seems to have lessened the problem but the laptop still gets very hot
- "Paint" below the keyboard has come off where you rest your hands and you can see the black of the plastic underneath presumably caused by overheating issues...granted only cosmetic but still annoying when you have paid £1800 for a laptop.
As I said, it's out of warranty now, but I will call tech support and see what they say, if they say I have to pay I may well be able to get Sony Style (Retailer) to help with that.
