Resolution question..again!

Hi,

I am using a KDL40X2000 along with my XL301.

My problem is I can't seem to get the resolution right. I am connecting via HDMI. The graffics card is Nvidia Geforce 7600GT. Driver vers 7.15.11.6222

The round Vista symbol in the corner is about two thirds visable. My understanding is that I can set to tv resolution of 1920 X 1080.So when using the resloution utility set to 1080, the problem still exists. Also sometimes when I scroll through the AV inputs the XL input is not always visable, and I have to reboot the XL

What is the correct settings/drivers?

Regards

Me

I think you need to reduce the resolution.
Set it to 1768*992 and that should solve your problem.

Good luck!

Hi,

I have the KDL-40W2000 which is similar to the X series, and it has a setting to change the zoom (or something like that), which should solve your problem.

You will also need a newer video driver to get 1080p.

To solve the black screen when you change AV settings you will need various hot fixes for Vista. Check out http://support.microsoft.com/.

I have to admit until Microsoft and NVidia sort or there issues / bugs, Vista is just un-usable! A lot of the problems are related to waking from sleep - freezes on a black screen, no sound through HDMI, no live tv until you switch channel, etc.

Me again!

Also, the other message that appears on the tv more times than I like is "Unsupported Signal, Check your device output"

Any ideas?

Here's some of the hotfixes I've installed, not all of them are relevant:-

A Windows Vista-based computer stops responding when you resume the computer from hibernation
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928135/en-us

When you resume a Windows Vista-based computer from sleep, you may experience unexpected behavior from a USB device
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935783/en-us

You may experience problems after you resume a Windows Vista-based computer from sleep or from hibernation
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929734/en-us

A Windows Vista-based computer that uses a PCI-E graphics device may stop responding when you wake the computer from sleep
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937500/en-us

The screen may be black or the menu screen may be unresponsive in Windows Media Center in Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935901/en-us

You need to phone Microsoft and request the hotfixes and they will email a link with a password so you can download them.

Regarding the NVidia video driver, you might have to wait. They keep releasing new drivers, but they still have problems. I installed the latest beta driver which seems to be more stable, but they appear to have removed 1080p support!
