Hi guys
Im having trouble controlling the backlit keyboard on my S series vaio (SVS1311P9EB). I don't believe VAIO Control Center, can help me here. How do I turn the backlight on and off? At the moment it activates when I start typing, which I find quite annoying. Is there an "Always On" function?
Hi nikthomsen and welcome.
The switch for the backlit keyboard is an ambient light sensor next to the Speed/Stamina switch and this cannot be adjusted. You can only have the backlight on when it is dark (unless you cover the sensor) - but you can disable it altogether. You can also adjust the time before the light turns off and if you want it 'always on' when dark, choose the last option "Do not turn off (always on when dark)"
If you go to Vaio Control Center you will find these options under 'Backlit Keyboard'.
Thanks for the answer. But when I open the control center I only get these options. How do I get all the other options?
It seems like you need to update your Vaio Control Center.
Hi nikthomsen.
Unfortunately there is no Vaio Control Center update available on the support page for your model here: -
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/SVS1311P9EB/updates
I think you should contact Vaio Support to see if this is a known issue that they are working on.
I have a F23N1E/B and these are the options that have come with mine. I've chosen Always on when plugged into the mains and for the Ambient Light Sensor to turn on the keyboard in low light for 30 secs when on Battery Power. There is no need to have it on and waste your batery if your not touching the keys, unless you dont mind and just like the effect.
Thanks for the replies.. However, how do anybody get in contact with sony support? when you click the contact button it just opens the "have you checked the community" again.
To contact Vaio Support, go here: -
http://www.sony.dk/support/da/contacts
Click on 'Computer' and enter your Vaio's Serial Number into the next window.
You will be given a number of options on how to contact Vaio Support.
