Screen resolution on VGN-A215M

Can anybody tell me if there's a way to get a screen resolution of more than 1280x800 pixel on this notebook? Or is this the highest possible resolution provided by the hardware?

No, you can't.

A TFT screen has only one native resolution. Higher resolutions are physically impossible. Lower resolutions must are interpolated.

The highest resolution on a TFT which I have seen, was 1600X1400 pixels.

Just read in another forum that the hardware sets the limit for the screen resolution. Can that be changed somewhere by installing new drivers or reconfigure some files?

Nope, as the display cannot be pushed any further.

Your screen was designed for a resolution of 1280X800 pixels. If you need more then you could replace TFT display. But I think a external display with a higher resolution would be better and cheaper.
