Sony M1 sound problems

My speakers on the back of the M1 make popping sounds occasionally. Why is this? What should i do? I bought the M1 for superiour sound quality but I am certainly not getting it. Please help, thanks

Does it do this when you are doing anything particular or does it do it at any time?

If it is happening at any time then you may need to use a mains supply conditioner or surge protector.

I have realised that the sound pops when the hard drive is doing something. But it shouldnt do that. Is it going to be a case of getting fixed?

Does anyone else have this problem?

Has any one sorted out this problem yet?

I too have the same problem and its very annoying because i really dont want to send my machine back, other than the problem i love it.

i have noticed a peculiarity though, the popping, crackling noises dont happen when your watching live tv, neither do they happen if your listening to music and the tv is on screen too..

If you then turn the AUX volume down so you cant hear the tv(although its still running on screen) you can listen to music without popping noises, no matter how much harddrive activity is going on.. as soon as you switch the tv off though the noises come back... i guess this pretty much rules out it being a hardware fault so it must be a driver issue.

Theres no new drivers available so not sure what the solution is...anyone else had any luck...its doing my head in
