after starting my laptop, it made a strange sound at the left....the system does not start at all, on the screen it says "Operating System not found".....can somebody tell me what this means?:smileycry:
Well I'm no expert but from what you described it sounds like the reader on your hard drive has physically broken. The same thing happened to my Toshiba Tecra when I bumped it off the end of the bed and it tumbled to the floor crashing with a sound simular to a shopping cart walloping a wall. Sorry matey.
Try the following however: Grab a copy of Windows XP if you can find it (I don't think the Vaio recovery will work but try it) and put it in the F drive cd reader. You should get at least the c: prompt. after the c prompt type scandisk all.
if it still finds no physical disks try fdisk all
if that doesn't work well it needs to be replaced or reconnected properly. Good luck and I hope it is just a warranty problem
Hi Jerry,
not trying to compound the misery but it does indeed sound like your hard disk has died.
William
so this means.....i got to replace it?...after trying the recovery disk it says....no connection with hard drive!....
From what you describe it does mean you will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall from your recovery media.
You have not mentioned if it is under warranty?
William
I have to agree with William, it will need replacing.
If your warranty is over consider looking through the Yellow Pages.
