sony vgn-nr21z would not start up, blank screen

hi everyone.

got a sony vaio vgn nr21z that was working fine until last night. the last person to play with it was my 6 year old. the power on light works, the fan works but blank screen any ideas or suggestions please?

Does the hard drive light flash?

Can you see an image on the screen faintly when you shine a torch on it?

Can you borrow an external monitor to see if it is your screen or the Vaio's system?

Hi,

Exactly the same thing has happened to mine (VGN-NR21Z) last week.

Windows was updating when power was lost! I tried to turn it on and nothing!

The power light and fan come on and the hard drive light flashes a few times then nothing. The screen does nothing just stays blank, doesnt even appear to turn on!

I have tried using a windows recovery disc but as i cant even select to boot from disc its hopeless!

Any ideas anyone? i may have a sony vaio paving slab on my hands!!!!
