Using my Sony Vaio TR5 on an airplane

Can anyone tell me if/how I can use my notebook on a plane using the "standard" in-seat power?

Do I need a specific adaptor?

I've never been on a plane where seats had their own power source for you to use. Clearly things are rougher down in peasant class. Or economy as they insist on calling it. Sorry man no idea.

US Airways. All seats on Airbus 320 come with power.
I'm not sure whether there is a Sony adaptor or whether I need a 3rd party adaptor.

You might need a UK > US converter, thats all.

Oh oh, I can answer this one :smileyrolling_eyes: :smileygrin: I travel with Air Canada and always use my laptop on the plane. The power source is usually in the back of the headrest in front of you. As Kee-Lo said all you need is a 3 to 2 pin adapter

Power from an airplane seat is 15v (according to the airline),

The power adaptor supplied with the notebook is 100-220v,

Therefore, some other adaptor must be required,

As I understand it, the transformer in your power lead reduces the power from 220V down to the voltage required by your laptop, if the source power is lower voltage it will still work, believe me I doubted it until I used mine on the plane, and it works fine, and I travelled on an Airbus too. I¿m sure some electrical boffin, would be able to explain it better :smileygrin:
