VAIO update ends up with one second remaining, forever.
Looking for answers on Sony pages, I nearly always get this when I click on the country 'UK':
Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /instranet/ccil_sony/selfservice/index.jsp.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
If it works and I enter the model number, it gets a Proxy Error.
The nearest I get to Sony e Support is from a two year old email welcoming me to e Support, with a link for activation. If I follow the link it wants a username and password twice and tells me the account is already set up. How do I get to a login? (I'm not sure how close I get to a login before getting Proxy Error).
I'm using a Vodafone pay-as-you-go dongle for the internet.
The laptop is a VGN-NR21E/S with VISTA Home Premium.
Thanks for any info, I can't think of anywhere else to try as I can't get to the official support.

The link worked, but I didn't see anything I wanted to update. I was hoping for new driver versions (for graphics) but I think you told me about a year ago that they don't update drivers. I still don't understand why I got proxy errors and had to end tasks. I managed to download and install a programming language yesterday so there can't be a lot wrong with my laptop or internet connection.
Off-topic but just to be positive (for a change), the hardware has been totally reliable.
I get Exactly the same error message on my vgn-fz11z very puzzling

There seems to be a problem acessing the Vaio support pages from around 2300 which contnues into the early hours..
Hopefully if you click the Vaio support link outside of this window it should be fine..
