I bought a Vaio VPCEH3N1E/W a couple of months ago and installed a pre-release Windows 8.
There were a couple of problems with missing drivers but I fixed them all by installing the relevant Windows 7 drivers from the Sony Support download page for my machine.
Yesterday I installed the full release OEM Windows 8 Pro version available to MSDN subscribers.
Now I have a missing driver problem that I’m unable to fix.
It’s ‘ACPI/SNY5001’ shown as ‘Unknown Device’ that I believe is the ‘Sony Firmware Extension Parser Device’. When I run this installer though it doesn’t fix the problem.
Could anyone please advise me how to fix this ‘ACPI/SNY5001 Unknown Device’ problem?
Should we expect to see specific Windows 8 drivers for my laptop at some point?
I am not sure if this device is already available in Windows 8. You may want to try using the Windows 7 version instead.

@daempii
Pleased don’t link to the USA support site – DavidManc0001’s Vaio is a European model and not even the same series as that you have linked to.
Hi DavidManc0001,
The driver in question is indeed the SFEP driver and if the Win 7 driver doesn’t work then you will need to wait until such time as the Win 8 version is available.
In the past Sony have released compatible drivers for the latest Windows OS for more recent models but only around the final release date.
