I am in the process of a bios update using the windows installer and it has now been running for 2 hours. There is occasional hard drive activity.
Please does anyone know how long this normally takes ?
I don't want to stop the instal in case it all goes wrong.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

Hi, thanks for that.
I waited for a day and then stopped instal by clicking on the red cross. There was another screen behind which gave me the option to terminate.
Not going ahead with bios update as have managed to sort most of the problems now.
All I need now is to get the motion eye camera working but no sign of drivers on Sony site.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Dave,
Which Bios update are you trying to install and where did you download it from? Are far as I can see the only update available from Sony is R0270Y0 (Vista updates) and this has its own installer..
Bios update normally only takes a few minutes certainly not 2 hours.

Hi Rich,
yes thats the bios I'm installing .
I used the Sony update facility and it was downloaded from there.
Any advice appreciated.

This is a difficult one Dave as the install is not progressing as expected.
If you abort there is always the chance that you will end up with an expensive doorstop. I personally would leave it to run overnight in the hope that it will complete. Unfortunately if the install doesn’t eventually complete then your only option is to turn off and hope for the best.
Sorry that I can’t be of more help...

Hi Rich,
thanks for the advice.
I'll leave it overnight and see what happens.
If it has messed up is there a way of getting to reload bios at startup ? eg. "boot blocker"
Thanks

Be patience. The speed of upgrading will depend on how old your computer. It means it loses it's potential speed when you bought it from the store.

Hi Dave,
If there are no drivers listed for the camera on the Support site then it uses native windows drivers.
What is the problem and is the device showing in Device Manager?

Hi Dave,
Do you have ArcSoft WebCam Companion installed? You can test the camera with this or try Skype.
