VGN-FW11S on windows 7

Hi, could you please give me advice regarding my laptop (VGN-FW11S). It didn't run very well on vista so I bought windows 7. Since then I cannot play blu-ray, have not got any support from Sony and cannot use many functions as I could on vista. I am VERY dissapointed by Sony - not keeping in touch with microsoft and releasing updates for their hardwares. This will definitelly stop me from buying Sony in the future! Does anyone know anything about updating my laptops hardware and being able to use Windows 7?

Thank you for your help

Best regards

Jiri

As you are aware, Sony do not support Windows 7 on your model.

You should have bought an UPGRADE version of Windows 7.  The 'Upgrade in Place' version would have retained all your Programs, Settings, Software, Drivers and Utilities, Data and Add Ons.

If you choose to make a clean install of Windows 7 the hard disc is formatted and you lose everything except the basic new version of Windows.  Some of the lost programs cannot be downloaded and you will have to buy new programs - WinDVD BD is one of those you have lost.

With a clean install of Windows 7, if you want everything to work on your Vaio, you will have to reinstall ALL the Drivers, Utilities etc that were a part of your Vaio.

You can download the basics here: -

These programs are for Vista but most should work with Windows 7, however some may not work correctly and you will need to use some of the Windows 7 downloads for the VGN-FW21Z which Sony does support for Windows 7: -
