My much loved & well used TP3 has suddenly developped a fault that i now understand may to be linked to the known Nvida GPU issue. (dots on BIOS screen & during intial Vista system load screen & then system freeze). Eventually managed to get a Linux flash disks to boot for HDD data revovery:SUSU only in fallback mode & this also indentified GPU as an issue, Ubunto crashed at point of graphics mode switch.
- Can anyone confirm if the VGX-TP3Z/ used the 8400 Nvida GPU involved the sony 'recall' ?
- Have Sony acknowledged the issue outside the listed laptops on the US web-pages ?
- Anyone else seen this issue and managed to get it resolved ?
- Any knowledge if the removal / reball services offered at various service centres is effective to fix issues like this ?
Really do not want to consign this unit to the bin if there is any hope of economic repair.
Bad news I'm afraid.
