VP Skins

Right. I am fed up of the fact that $ony can't be bothered to produce more skins, or even easier for them, tell us how to make new ones :smileynot_talking:. That is why i am sending out a plea for anyone who can disassemble a vaio pocket .skn file or who can help in any way shape or form to enable us to understand more about these skins and possibly even how to create new ones.
PLEASE can someone who has coding knowledge or something technical like that help us out here, as I am sure i am not the only one who feels let down by $ony on one more occasion.
Any help is much appreciated.

sorry friend but i dont think that anyone will be answering your call.
i understand your frustration and i would like some skins myself as well as the opportunity to create my own but this cannot be as the .skn technology is probably buried inside sony's labs.i dont think they will give it out even to users!

maybe with the coning of the new vp we have a chance for new firmware update and therefore new skins but this is just a personal view.


a little out of topic:
does anyone of you think that theres any chance of compatibility between the firmware update of vp and the next model's?
if so the firmware released for the new model could be applied to our model and therefore enhance it [like skins or video playback for which hundreds of people complaint].

I'm quite confident about this. maybe not all the new features of a Brand new VP model could be displayed in the current one but I think some of the firmwares can be common as SS is common to MD, VP or HDD, etc...

i certainly hope this will turn out true too!
if not then sony will just show vp users that they dont care about old customers but just want new ones!
to hell with them if this is true!

You are right, maybe that's why they didn't upgrade the firmware for a long time, even thogh there are lots of bugs in the VP! Maybe they planning a new firmware which is compatible to both version, DAP and AVP !

forgive my ignorance but how do you know there is a new model of the vp coming out? and if so when ?

if you search in google about "vaio video playback" you will see the sony states about releasing a mew one with video playback this time and [supposed to be] native mp3 playing!
i think its called pcvh200 or something,not sure.

also sony is marketing another one named hmp-a1 if i remember correctly which i dont think belongs to vaio series and has the abilities stated above too.
