Hi everybody,
I just received a SVS1312C5E and it has 4Go RAM and a 320Go HDD. I want to increase the ram, go for a SSD and get a warranty for 4 years. I have 3 questions:
1) If I buy the modules from anywhere except an affiliated sony dealer, will the warranty be still valid?
2) If not, is it possible to do it without breaking the warranty?
3) What is the maximum amount of memory I can put in this computer?
Thank you for your help,
Cédric

However at your own risk & as long as you are competent enough to upgrade the RAM on your Vaio then you should be fine, several users have done this before & Sony even supply a guide in your models trobleshooting guide - -

I can not find the maximum amount of Ram that your SVS1312C5E supports as Sony have not listed the specifications info on the support site..
However I pretty sure your vaio has 4GB fixed Ram & can support upto 12GB..
However if you use the Crucial.com memory system scanner it will guide you on what Ram upgrade is supported for your Vaio - Crucial Memory Scanner
The good thing about the Crucial site is that they offer a guarantee on the compatible RAM upgrades they suggest..

Hi Cédric and welcome.
This is always a difficult question but in Europe it is generally accepted that adding memory modules does not invalidate the warranty so long as you are careful and follow the guidelines in Thalamus's answer..
It is also accepted that replacing the HDD/SSD does invalidate the warranty.
This will have to be your decision as you have to prepared to lose your warranty - the question you must ask yourself is can you replace the original component undetected in the event of a repair?
Maximum memory for this model is 12GB. I think 4GB is soldered in and there are 2 additional memory slots which can take 4GB each.
Hi,
Thank you for your quick and precise answer.
From the crucial website, it says there is one slot and it can go up to 12Gb.
