Why is the size of my HD not 80Gb(FS195VP), as in spec, but 66GB?

Hi, i ordered a new VGN-FS195VP about 5 days ago, after some research. At that time, It was also part of the FS range on the sony site.

My new laptop arrived yesterday, looking at the hard disc, it totals to 66GB, not the 80GB as had been listed on the sony site and numerous dealer sites last week.

I re-visited sony.co.uk, and to my astonishment, find the VGN-FS195VP not part of the FS series anymore. Spoke to the dealer and they weren't sure what was going on. Nobody could answer my query on the disk space issue either.

Does anyone know anything about it being withdrawn and what's with the hard disk capacity?

thnx in advance.

S.

(LOL, how many place need Sony for a recovery DVD?)

You must burn your recovery DVDs. I think after this you can delete the files.

LOL... You are not missing anything.. Its just Windows' way of rounding up numbers that ends up showing those figures... nothing to worry about..just blame Microsoft.. they are anyways responsible for so many other and more important things...

ermm nope..if i read from windows, the c: drive is 27.9G and d:drive is 58.2G and the recovery is 7G. so total is 93.1G,

the figure i get there is from Everest Home Edition software.

Eugenepang and inectarius,

Is that a Hitachi drive? If yes, which drive it is?

Yeah,

The problem is only that a 100GB HDD from Hitachi cost more than 200¿ (but I'm not sure)
