Poor connection between NWZ-W273 and my PC. Can I clean?

I have to push the player into the cradle and hold it there before my PC recognizes my player. I tried cleaning the "charging" part of the player with a tooth brush, and I think it helped a bit. Reseting does help, too. Any other suggestions?
