Hi, I recently purchased a Sony MEX N5200BT car stereo and I'm having problems with the hands free calling. Making calls is fine but when a contact rings me the n5200BT only shows their phone number and I have to look down at my phone on the passenger seat to see who is calling. I can access my address book on the n5200BT to phone my contacts fine. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Hi Ian,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
Have you checked that you have the latest firmware update? You can see more details on this here.
Also could you check that your contacts are on your phone memory and not just the sim.
Let me know how you get on.
Best wishes,
Sean Mc
Hi Sean thanks for replying, the firmware on the unit is M12 / S34 which is the latest. All my contacts are stored in my google account so I moved one to them to the phone storage but still the same problem, it only shows the number when a contact rings me. I can access my address book on the N5200BT no problem and use it to phone contacts its just incoming call where the issue is. Ive tried un pairing/re pairing but it still doesn't work. Ive tried using +44 and 44 instead of the initial zero in the contacts number and still no luck.
Hi Ian071,
Have you tried more than one phone? There's a compatibility list on the website, I'd say test the device with a fully compatible phone from the ones listed under the compatibility section here: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/mobile-cd-players-digital-media-players-mex-series/mex-n5...

Hi Black Rose, the Galaxy S7 is supposed to be fully compatible as far as I can tell. But I will also have to try another phone as you suggested. Thanks
Hi Ian071,
Let me know how it goes.

Hi can anyone confirm the MEX n5200bt is supposed to show the callers name and not just the number ? Thanks
Hi Ian071,
I've checked the User manual of your car system. It doesn't really confirm that callers name should be on display when receiving a call. But it confirms that they should be available in the calls history. What are the make and models of the mobile phones you tried connecting to the system?

Hi Vanilla, the only phone I've tried so far is the Samsung Galaxy S7 using android 8.0.
