sony NWZ-B153 Issue with charging

Hello and thanks for your help in advance, 

i own a new NWZ-B153 digital music player,i have had for about 2-3 years never opened or used it !

i have earler models of the walkman and i can plug into the usb on my laptop and works just fine,but when i slot in it will not charge ? when you plug in the red light comes on and you can see in the window the star of the charging operation for about 2-4 seconds then it just shows connected usb and no charging ? have tried a few times in the 3 x usb ports on my laptop and i know they all work! i can access the programs on the walkman on my pc i have also downloaded a document onto the player with no issues,i have reset the player a couple of times but still nothing? i have had it pluged in for hours but no charging when i un plug its dead again,any idears please.

Hi Walter,

Welcome to the Sony Community.

Depending on the environment in which your Walkman is used, the battery may deteriorate if it is not used for over a year.  Sounds like the battery may need to be replaced.  It's not possible to replace the battery by yourself since the Walkman needs to be disassembled to replace the battery.

I'd recommend getting in touch with the support team here who will be able to advise further.
