Future BRAVIA features - requests & suggestions.

Hi all

Please feel free to put in any requests for future updates and features you would like to see added. Of course we can't promise that we can deliver on all of them as there may be technical/commercial/resource limitations, as to why they aren't possible, but everything will be considered.

Thanks

I'd like my KD55XG7003 to work as, you know... a TV.

Picture is fine on BluRay, DVD and Internet stuff, but you forgot to make it capable of tuning in to my local station / service provider - insead fixating on an antenna in another county, and then acting all surprised when there is no, or a very weak, signal.

Getting very sick of having to do a retune every time I switch this utter dog on. (With apologies to my actual dogs...)

Have you tried updating the TV to the latest software version?

I have KD-55A8. When the TV is connected via WIFI, then internal ethernet is kind of useless. It would be great if WIFI is connected, then the ethernet port would be acting as active LAN port for other LAN devices on the same LAN. So to the ethernet port you can connect for example switch and to that other LAN devices. would this be great? 🙂

(Reply to Joe Dohn.)

Well of course I updated the software.

And did the "power off at the wall" reboot thing.

And the "Return to factory settings and lose all your own settings" thing.

And doing the "aerial out" retune thing.

Then a full retune (eventually...)

(The retuning still never offers a chance to change regions. I just have to retune it over and over (at a boring 15 minutes per usually abortive attempt) until it accidentaly settles on E. Midlands region, rather than E. ? Yorks / Lincolnshire.)

It behaved itself for a while, but now it is acting up again as of today.

(Reminder / warning to anyone even thinking about getting a KD55XG7003).

Put the credit card on the floor and back away from it slowly.

It's an absolute heap of junk.

Hi ondrej.bartos,  although I see your point, however, from my experience as a network support this is not even possible, it's either the Wi-Fi or the LAN connection (Usually the LAN overides the Wi-Fi, not the opposite). David926, I would say check with an antenna specialist, it's the aerial that provides the location, not the TV after all.

Hannah.

If I had a Sony Bravia TV that works perfectly well with that antenna for years, and then I stupidly upgrade to another larger Bravia, and plug it into exactly the same antenna, I'd say the new TV was at fault.

Or am I missing something?

And please don't suggest "the usual steps". I know them off by heart by now.

I’m delighted to find that reducing the brightness setting on my TV now brings up a warning message that I may be increasing its power consumption.

I never realised the turning the brightness down would do that.
It’s really helpful.

(Especially as the ambient light sensor is one-size-fits-all rubbish so I constantly need to grab the remote and reset brightness manually.)

Having a jolly little message to read helps my frustration mightily.

Please consider adding support for the Apple TV app to KD-55AG8 (or the AG8 series). It would be great to have support for the Apple TV app though a software update as done for many other 2019 models.

Please also consider adding AirPlay2 and HomeKit support for KD-55AG8.

I hope the aforementioned requests are possible to implement in the near future. Thank you for making this space and considering feature requests!

I have recently bought a Sony Bravia X81J and so far I'm fairly pleased with it... but there are a couple of suggestions I would like to add

The TV comes with YouView (and this is one of the reasons why I bought it - I didn't buy it before December as there was an issue with YouView / Catchup for months). However, Youview allows you to record directly from the TV guide (it doesn't on Bravia) and it also allows you to pause Live TV. I have connected a HDD to my Sony Bravia TV and the above two features would be really useful... sadly not implemented (at least yet).

And last but not least... would be great to be able to record at the same time than watching live TV... I believe the TV have dual tuner, so it should be doable?

Thank you!

Hey RdeMiguel, since this is a user forum, I recommend contacting Sony directly with your suggestions. The first two aren't available on Sony TVs, but the third one should work if you have a twin tuner.
