My xperia Z ultra also encountered this problem. But upon removing the sd card and putting back the problem is gone.

Hi, I have exact the same error on my German Xperia Z, where the message reads 'Lesefehler. Versuchen Sie es erneut'.

This is already discussed on the German androitpit.de but no solution so far.The problem seems to go back to the update from Android 4.1 to 4.2 but did not go away with the 4.2.2 update. It occurs only when the phone has data connection. Also a factory reset does not help.

By the way: the problem has nothing to do with a SD card since I am currently not using a SD card.

I had this too on my Xperia Z1 and it stopped when I removed my credit card from my phone case. I assume the phone was trying to read the chip in the credit card??

I had the same problem and I Googled about it which brought me to this thread. Dg73 wrote something about his credit card being too close which made me remember I had my nfc function on. In my phone case I always have my bus card as well which works the same way as these nfc tags, I assume.

I turned the nfc off and it seemed to help. I always have it on for fast communication with my tablet but now I have a reason to save my battery life I guess 🙂

Mine started when I unlocked my phone saying 'read error, try again' and made a noise. I took my SD card out but it still said it so had nothing to do with the DR card. I noticed my bus pass was near my phone so I moved it away and as soon as I did it stopped saying it. Upon putting my pass near it again, straight away it came up with 'read error, try again.' hope this helps as it's not your phone its the chip in your cards!

Also how do I turn off the nfc thing??

The case I've been using for my Z Ultra has slots for credit cards. I had three cards inserted. As soon as I removed them, my "Read Error. Try Again " issue disappeared.
