Sudden death

Hello friends,

I come here from France, so please excuse my bad speaking.

My Xperia Z1 Compact is currently off but I can power on it again in a way that I will explain later. For a good understanding, here how it's happened :

1. During I using it, setting a gps travel, the phone turned onto a black screen. In first, I thought it was turned off, this is suprising because it has approximatively 78% of battery. It did not start when I press the button, that fact was scared me but I thought maybe it was just started and freezed on a black screen. I didn't know the trick about power on + volume up, so I just wait the phone restart by itself. It was the case about 15-20 min later.

2. After this incident, the phone ran very fine during 3 days, after I notice a defective battery, shutting down very fast : goes from 68% to 32% in one second. I started to think there was a hardware or software problem.

3. The 4th day, the phone didn't pass the night. I found it turn off, 0 battery while I let it during the night in flight mode with almost 80% of battery. I charged it again and during the day, it worked fine until I would take a photo, when the flash fired, the phone come to black screen again. Power On + Volume Up permit to restart it.

4. Same day, I use the « diagnostic » app and the phone turned to black screen on flash test.

5. 5th day, the phone don't restart after the night, I let it plugged on wall charger during 30 min before red the led turn on in front of the phone. I'm able to restart it after that but, even when charged to 100%, the phone automatically shutdown when I unplugged the charger.

6. Same state, but I need to let the phone plugged 1 or 2 hour before the red led turn and totaly unusable if it's unplugged. Sometimes but rarely, the phone restart himself or go to black screen but it's rare.

I think the battery was totaly dead and may be there is a more complicated hardware problem. I made factory reset, full reset, repair phone with the pc software. Nothing helps.

I'm going back to my store today or tomorow to replace it...
That's bad.

Finally the phone is dead, sony support tells me that the motherboard is dead, battery and antenna.

So I have no phone and I still waiting the 50€ in cashback since 11 weeks...

I'm not very happy Sony, this is not good for me and for you.

I'm sorry to hear that.
Since you have tried basically all the things you can do yourself, I suggest that you raise this with your local support team to check how to proceed with this in the best possible way.
