Hi
I have been provided with an unloack code for my W995 via the O2 network in the UK. I have instructions to enter the unlock but am unable to carry them out, the instructions are as follows
Start the device without a SIM
When device is in idle mode enter following key sequence: Left, Star,Star, Left
Highlight and Select the "Network" lock.
You will now be prompted to enter the NLCK4U code to unlock it. After entering the code handset states: "Network unlocked"
Problem is, when I start the phone without SIM inplace I get the message Instert SIM card, or to view demo of this phone forst, press Demo. I enter the key sequence: Left, Star,Star, Left but nothing happens.
Wonder if anyone might be able to point me in te right direction to resolve this issue?
Many thanks
These are supposed to be the correct instructions, as seen on other websites. However you can try entering this sequence with the SIM card inserted, trying both your current SIM card and one from a different network.
i think these instructions might help you.
1 - Switch ON your Sony Ericsson W995 without
any SIM Card,
2 - Press the left arrow
key/button once
,
3 - Press the button * twice
,
4 - Press the left arrow
key/button once
,
5 - The message "Personalize with MNC2" will appear, (or you will have displayed an unlock menu, select the lock you want to unlock)
6 - Enter the Unlock Code.
If your Sony Ericsson W995 does not have a left arrow button/key(e.g. Sony Ericsson W950i) and on a few phones(not all) that have a "JOGDIAL" you must press the "down arrow" key/button instead of the "left arrow" key/button for step 2 & 4. We mean by "Down Arrow" to direct the Jogdial down! In the Sony Ericsson W950i and some other models, the down arrow button/key would be located on the side of the phone.
if you have any doubt in these visit this site http://www.mobile-unlocker.com/sony-ericsson-w995/rs2wp9/ or this site http://www.mobileunlockguide.com to get the instructions.
Thanks
The crux of the problem was that, on starting the phone without a sim card I was unable to follow the instructions as the only option available was "Demo", I was unable to enter any sequence of button presses. Regardless, I perservered and, with a working SIM in the phone followed the instructions and unlocked the handset.
Thanks
You're welcome.
