Accessing the Internet whilst making a call

Why am I not able to access the Internet or send a WhatsApp message whilst I am on a call?

That's odd, you should be able to. We'll need some more information.

What is the model number of your phone? You can find it under Settings > About Phone.

Is this with mobile data or WiFi? Does the icon at the top go away when you make a call?

Hi, 

The model number is G8441.

I'm using mobile data.

I don't have any icons showing at the top apart from notifications. 

I had a z3 compact before and I never had any problems with accessing WhatsApp and still sending messages whilst on a call, likewise with using the Internet.

Do you experience the same issue when you are connected to WiFi?

Also, have you checked with your network carrier to confirm if your account supports it?

Hi, 

I don't have WiFi. 

I never had this problem when I had the Z3 compact, I was able to send WhatsApp messages whilst on a call and access the Internet. 

Since upgrading to the XZ1 compact I'm not able to do this.

Are you connected via 3G/LTE? If you are not, then this will not work (via 2G or GSM).

Hi, 

I'm on 4G, nothings changed from what I was on whilst I had my Z3 compact, so I don't understand why I can't using the XZ1 compact.

Does it happen in safe mode?

Hi, 

I can't access the Internet or WhatsApp in safe mode. 

A majority of my apps disappear in safe mode.

The phones is using 3G or 2G during a call so even if you are in 4G the phone will use either 2G/3G while the call is ongoing. You should make a test to change the settings in your phone and make a call.

Go to Settings->Network&Internet->Mobile Networks->Preferred network type and choose 3G (preferred)/2G.

Check if the 3G/LTE or any thing appears above the signal bars. This indicates that you have a data connection. Try your apps and make a call and try your apps. This will give you an idea what is wrong.
