XZ1 Compact GPS not working after Android PIE update

After upgrading to Android Pie 9 2 days ago, GPS stop working. Italian firmware

Battery optimization did the trick. I disabled it for waze and other applications start working without it... Weird. But it seems to work. But I dont know what battery consumption will be without optimization...

Hi, 

Can sony do something about this or at least respond? There are forum posts all over the place about this issue. It's still an issue on my phone and has gotten worse. Its not been right since I bought the bluddy thing. I had the same issue with my Z5 and now with my XZ1.

Sadly none of those fixes have made a difference.

Had this problem since at least September last year. This is my third Sony Experia and probably may last.

Clear assist data in gpstest app is working but gps is still sometimes loosing fix. But it works for some tíme.

I ended up buying a new XZ2 compact to resolve the problem. But I don't like Sony breaking old phones to sell the new ones.

Here is a temporary workaround:

Use the following Xperia test phone number to go to gps settings :

*#*#7378423#*#* ---> Service tests ---> GPS ---> Purge assistance data

then purge assistance data

It should work fine now

It's a temporary workaround... but it works!

Subito dopo fatta questa operazione il gps va alla grande, vede un sacco di satelliti e fixa subito...

Hi, my father in law has the same issue with his XZ1 compact (french). So it is now three / four months that the issue is known and there is no official info nor corrective action from SONY ???

Hi, I have also encountered issues with the GPS on my XZ1C running on pie. Try going to settings>network and internet>internet settings (download settings for internet and settings).  This seems to work for me.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I will try what you suggest. So now, the GPS is working permanently for you ? No need to download settings several times ?
