Hello, since this phone is waterproof i wanted to try it under water, and when i putted it under water, while all the slots were closed properly and there was also a phone cover protecting it, my phone turned off and from then it didnt switch on again also after i pressed the power button like 10 times
I've had the same issue with my z1c from just a week ago. I called Sony Support and they've sent me a package to send in my device to a Sony Service Center.
They'll do a pressure check and hopefully a internal review to see that no other parts have gone broke.
My scenario:
Tried it under water for about 5 min snapping some pics. Got up and heard three vibrations from my phone. It was turned off. Tried to restart it. Booted for a couple of seconds then three vibrations and restared. Assumed water had gotten in (even though I specifically checked all sockets were closed before going in!) and did the Nintendo cartridge blow to get as much water out as possible. Blowing in the sim tray produced the most drops. Did this in intervals for about 15 min and then managed to call Tech Support. It's been running OK since then but still going to send it in (random reboots, not sure if there's anything left in there).
Is this an issue of the rubber on the socket flaps going stale over time? I've tested my phone in the shower on several occasions when it was new and no issues were experienced then.
I got into the pool 4 weeks ago to take some shots (I checked my phone before entering the water) and the phone got wet. It completely died, so I decided to send it to repair. Exactly 3 weeks later, I get a phone call saying that the analysis made by the Xperia care team concludes that "as the phone is water proof and the internals got wet, the reason for getting wet must be that the flaps were not properly closed, so in case I want to repair it, I will have to take care of the bill"...
This conclusion is just simply unacceptable. It seems that the simple solution is to blame the user. I do not understand how they tested this and they havn't given any proof supporting the fact that the phone was not 100% waterproof. I am currently feeling cheated and disgusted by the Xperia care. If I were Sony, I would take customer care more seriously before providing conclusions and not taking responsibility for a product not well manufactured. There have been many big companies that have gone bankrupt because of poor satisfaction on customer care. From my point of view with the current financial results, Sony Corp does not have the privilege of getting bad reputation, specially taking into account how quickly reviews spread throughout the internet...
I will personally call Xperia Care to take care of this and give another chance, but it seems like a lost cause. It looks like Sony is going to lose a customer who still had high hopes and that Xperia Care and the Sony Xperia Z line are going to get some bad reviews all over the web.
too many users with problems on the phone after putting it in water, not only in this forum but many others, including any comments on social networks, users put the phone in the pool and the phone died.
A user may forget to close a tab, but all users?, Not could be than what it can exert pressure water, if these same tabs have some Millimeter design error, or the structure of the phone may have this design error, and then pass the water?
The question is, with closed tabs, we put our phone in water, and be sure that phone will not break, or if water finally enter to the phone, Sony will take care of the damage?, Or we have a phone , of which we can boast that we can put it in the pool but, but better don't do this, because it could break?
A greeting.
And my brand new Z1 Compact were properly checked of the hatches before I put it in my life west going windsurfing in a lake (not the sea). I went in the water 3-4 times for no more than 20 seconds.
After windsurfing session phone were dead.:smileyshocked:
I checked the hatches before opening, SIM and memory card were wet, condensed water on both camera lenses.
Tried to charge, phone vibrated continously, pulsating, red diod blinking.
Now it does not start.
If Sony does not cover the repair I goint to start a anti-SONY web revolution.
What pressure are the phone tested with when doing a pressure test after water damage?
Do Sony pressure test new phones in production?
My zperia also got waterdamaged when i tried it under water in the sink. Of course all of the slots where closed. It shut down emidietly but i was able to turn it back on. it shut down twice but then it has workt fine except the screen cracked and now they wont repair it because they found waterdamage in the phone and cant guarantee the repair. you would think sony would have some kind of guarantee for this. In the commercials they swim with this phone under water etc.
Could everybody who has posted here check the 'Water Indicators' under the flaps?
I'm just trying to get an overall picture if Sony really matters the color of those while checking the phones.
Mine has worked perfectly, it has been in lake for few times and I've always washed it afterwards. My indicators remain white. I was supposed to go to a really clear water lake today to take pictures but now I'm a bit sceptical.
So everyone whose phone has broke from water damage, could you check that color under the flaps and let us else know? Along with how the Sony support responded (if they were white instead of red).
