Hi
I fitted two new SODIMM 512ram sticks into my Vaio (PCG-K315S) today (there are two slots) and while the first one, after a fair bit of pressure, clicked into it's seating (position), the other refused to actually click - although the side holder thingys did close around it when i pushed it down.
I powered up, and checked total RAM and it showed it as all being there (1 gig) but i'm concerned whether the one that wouldn't click into position is really fully seated.
I'm scared of trying again in case i apply too much pressure and break it!
Does it really have to click to be seated? or do you think i've done it OK, given that the memory's all showing up when i check in Windows?
Cheers
I think you should be fine!
As long as the retaining lugs closed around the board it should'nt move or become dislodged!
Enjoy all that extra memory!

Just make sure you take precautions when moving RAM
Cheers for replying guys!
Kee-Lo,
what do you mean "when moving RAM" .....just wondering.
ie. moving it while holding it, or what?
Yes, holding it and installing it
you mean like touching something metal before handling it?
Do you have any additional tips for handling RAM?
Yes like a radiator, and wearing a wristband too.
Hi
just a few question about your new RAM:
1) Has it made a difference in the performance of your machine for the previous 512mb?
2) Where did you perchase the ram and how much?
thanks:smileyhappy:
Here's a few answers.
1) Preformance always increases...
2) Try and get some from Crucial - they have a memory matcher which is very specific and they are reasonably priced too.
Crucial have good support too
Never seen a complaint about them here, and a lot of VAIO users swear by them.
