sony volume display disappeared

When I change the volume with the keyboard fn controls it used to come up on the background. How do I restore that. (VPCEE2S1E)

Spoke with Sony. I had disabled VAIO event service from running, thought it was just bloatware. However, only while it's running will this volume display show, and also will enable you to adjust the brightness.

Did you have to reboot the computer after turning it back on, that service is on for me but my keyboard after upgradning to WIN 7 does still not work....

probably had to reboot after reinstalling. Sorry can't help for your particular case, as I didn't do any upgrading.
