BDP S370 no longer finds DLNA devices

I've been running the S370 with a DLNA server on a NAS box for a couple of months. In the last few days its ability to connect to ANY DLNA server has dissappeared. If I try Connection Server Diagnostics, it sees the NAS box, but states "The server does not support DLNA". Well it did !!!

It does this for every DLNA server. I have even tried TVersity running on a PC. Same problem.

However, if I try XBMC running on a laptop, it can see the DLNA servers fine and I can browse their contents.

Can anyone explain why the S370 thinks none of my media servers support DLNA, because they all do.

Simply if this was a firmware bug, then everyone else would have this problem and there would be plenty of threads about this issue. So either your device has malfunctioned somehow, or there is somthing on your network which is preventing the player from seeing the rest of your devices.

Can always get it checked out by your local service centre or maybe take it round a friends house and see if it exhibits the same issues there?

Thanks

have you logged in to your Twonky server and checked that it sees your BDP S370 as a media receiver - i.e. check the connection from the other end?

Given that an Xbox 360 and a laptop running XBMC BOTH see and access my DLNA media shares when connected to the same network switch, it certainly isnt anything on my network causing the problem.

Given that iPlayer and all the other internet apps on the S370 all work perfectly fine too, I dont see how it can be anything other than a bug in the UPnP/DLNA stack.

Three people and counting seem  to have this problem. Since DLNA support in the firmware is pretty new; I wouldnt be surprised to hear more reports of this problem.

I dont hold out much hope that my "local service centre" will have any clue how to fix this either so I guess I'll go back to Amazon and tell them there's a fundamental flaw in the product.

My offer of a network trace still stands.

As mentioned its either an issue on your network or the device has malfunctioned. As you are confident your network is ok, then the latter would seem to be the problem. A couple of threads below, a guy had a similar problem and simply arranged a swap out with his dealer and now its working fine, so I would recommend this as the next step.

Thanks

I also have Twonky running on my NAS, in my case a WD World Book (white light). One thing I came to understand reading whichever forum it was, is that Twonky isn't the greatest, and that only later versions support the Bravia. As luck would have it a firmawre upgrade to the NAS included a newer version of Twonky (5.1.9) which does recognise the Bravia.

Also, I have noticed once that Twonky did not automatically select the Sony Bravia profile from the drop-down list. I didn't actually test the effect of this on the TV, but assume it is can't help.

Before you swap out your TV it might be worth investigating?

Unfortunately i am suffering from a similar problem.I have a bravia tv, a ps3 and my bdp s370.The tv and ps3 can access my lacie nas drive and play from it wheras my 370 doesn't see it. If this is not a problem with the dlna credentials of the 370 then I don't know what  is!The bluray can stream from my windows7 pc but all my files are on the nas.

Yes, I agree it can really only really be a firmware problem but since I've had little joy getting anyone's interest [here] in fixing this, Sony will be getting a return unit as the nice people at Amazon are sending me a replacement, even though it's way over their usual 30 days returns policy. Now that's customer service !

I fully expect to get the same problem again, so I'll be back here in a couple of months complaining about it all over again. Sigh. [ I couldnt persuade Amazon to swap me to a Samsung :smileysad:]

I've installed Serviio as suggested but the BDP 370 still cannot see my Iomega Home Media Drive. Same message as before - Connection failed. The server does not support DLNA.

I'm also beginning to think it was the recent Firmware which I updated just before Christmas - I would have done it sooner but I had the BDP S370 disconnected from my network for a few months.

Had no problems prior to the Firmware update.

Is there any way of rolling back the Firmware to check this?

I received my replacement S370 from Amazon today, plugged it in, and my DLNA servers have reappeared. Not all of them however. The TVersity still does not support DLNA [according to the S370] ! Not sure what gives here as I never installed TVersity until after I started having problems. The 360 can see it fine !

Don't really care about TVersity as I want to use my NAS for media serving and the good news is that it is now back and functioning as a DLNA server for the S370, as it did with my first S370 for two months or so.

I have the same Iomega drive as graheslo running version 2.064 firmware.

As I said before, I think this is a firmware bug in the DLNA stack and I will not be at all surprised if it comes back to bite me a second time.

Seems like your only course of action is get the unit replaced by your friendly retailer, if you have one.

Hi guys

I came across this thread today after I received my new BP-S370 from Amazon and encountered some basic issues after I hooked it up to my system. It sounds like I have encountered similar problems to those mentioned here and wondered if anyone could advise me on what to do next.

I have my NAS drive (LaCie Network Space 2) plugged in to my router and then an ethernet running from the router into the Blu Ray player. The NAS does not show up at all on the BR player, even if I scan the network. There are simply no devices appearing. I tried different LAN ports from the router and that didn't help. In the end I connected the NAS directly to the BR with the ethernet cable and it showed up, displayed all my folders and played all my files (except for .mkv files), just liked it hoped it would in the first place.

I then unplugged and reconnected both to the router. After that the NAS was listed but greyed out, and would not connect if I selected it. Scanning the network for servers did not fix the problem. It appears that the only way I will get the BR to see the NAS is if it is hard wired in directly - which defeats the point since it is therefore off the grid and not operating as a NAS - unless anyone has any other suggestions?!

All feedback welcome and appreciated.

Cheers

Christian
