BDP S370 no longer finds DLNA devices

I've been running the S370 with a DLNA server on a NAS box for a couple of months. In the last few days its ability to connect to ANY DLNA server has dissappeared. If I try Connection Server Diagnostics, it sees the NAS box, but states "The server does not support DLNA". Well it did !!!

It does this for every DLNA server. I have even tried TVersity running on a PC. Same problem.

However, if I try XBMC running on a laptop, it can see the DLNA servers fine and I can browse their contents.

Can anyone explain why the S370 thinks none of my media servers support DLNA, because they all do.

MESSAGE FOR JEZZER99

Unfortunately I've had my player too long to get it replaced so I'll persevere until I find a solution.

I was wondering which Firmware version was installed on your new S370. Did it come with the recent upgrade?

If its faulty, you have at least a 1 year warranty on it no matter where you bought it from so would be able to get it repaired at your local Sony Repair Centre. Details are at the top of the page I think.

Thanks

It had the latest firmware straight out of the box.

It seems to me that its a complete lottery whether your media server works with the S370. This is demonstrated by the fact that my new unit now works with my NAS (TwonkyMedia) but the TVersity server continues to be unavailable (does not support DLNA). I have never had any difficulty using all these DLNA servers with an Xbox 360, and this simple demonstrates that DLNA support on the S370 is buggy and has not been fully tested.

It is not enough just to tell people to get their units repaired (or replaced if they're able to) when this issue would be resolved if Catmambo was willing to escalate these issues to "Engineering".

It's a firmware issue. My iomega network storage has also dropped off after the Dec 2010 firmware update and worked smoothly before. My S570 now says 'this device does not support DLNA" and a get a server 'failed' response.  So now I'm having to use my Xbox 360 to play music off my NAS instead of my S570

Please have tech support examine the issue if you could. I'm hoping it will be rectified in the the next firmware update

Thanks so much

I agree that I think this is firmware. I have a range of media servers (Windows Media Server, Tversity, PS3Server  and Windows 7 PCs with Media Player) and I had one BDP-370 that was working finding them all. I purchased another one and both were upgraded by the latest firm ware. Now neither of them pick up Tversity or Windows Media Server. However, they do pick up Windows Media Player on the Windows 7 box and the PS3server that is running on the same box as the Windows Media Server.....My Philips DNLA TVs pick them all up.

I am calling Sony in the morning!

Of course its the firmware !

Unfortunately our local Sony rep on this forum, Catmambo, doesn't seem to agree, judging by his lack of response.

Anyway, my 2nd unit is still working. Amaaaaazing !!!

BDP S370 - cannot ACCESS my pc anymore.

Hi - i'm having a similar problem. After the recent update I can see the server - but it's permananently greyed out and I can't connect. I can access the network and use iplayer etc.

I've checked netework diagnostics and everything appears solid at both ends.

i've reset back to default settings - and actually can't see the pc at all now....

If I can't get any joy soon i'll return to amazon.

I am also having a similar problem now after a recent firmware update (to M03.R.742).  I have a Netgear Stora (NAS) which I have been using with the S370 for half a year successfully.  Now the S370 still finds the Stora and I can browse through the files, but when I try to play anything I get an error: "The file is corrupted or the music file is not support".  Similar message for photos and video.  But I am able to play these files from the Stora on my PC, so I know there is nothing wrong with the Stora or the files.

Like other posters here, I now experience that sometimes the S370 finds the Windows 7 server on my PC and sometimes it doesn't, although it does always seem to find the Stora - it just won't play the files.

I was already disappointed with the S370 because when I bought it the Sony website said that it was a DLNA DMR (Digital Media Renderer), which means that I should be able to stream music to it from my PC or iPhone, but Sony told me that this was a mistake on the spec sheet.  Now even the limited DLNA pull from the Stora doesn't work.

Sony, please get involved here and provide some support to us beyond telling us to go through the hassle of replacing our units!

I have the same problem since the last firmware update. My iomega NAS used to work fine as a DLNA server. Now the S370 says "The server does not support DLNA".

Hi Christian, this is very strange, it would indicate the issue is not the player, but the router, as the player can access everything when directly connected shows there is no fault with the software on the player, it only does not see your server via your network, the player cannot be responsible for that.

I use a NAS and Mezzmo and have found no problems with my setup since the latest firmware, I would recommend a reset of your router and player to be safe, just incase the update did not boot correctly, its supprising how the odd reset can resolve these things
