My CDRW/DVD drive no longer ejects by itself. I have to poke a small bit of wire into the hole in the side of the drive to get it to open.
I can hear my poor vaio trying to pop it open, but it just isnt able to... I dont know why, or how to fix it. I have cleaned it, asked it nicely, I even banged it! (crule I know).
Anyone have any ideas? or does anyone else have this problem? I have a PCG-FX702, up to now, I havent had any problems at all, and its about 4 years old.
It just fails to pop out. Its quite annoying, as you can imagin.
Am I dreaming or didn't you ask this very question, and I said the mechanism has died?
Or was this a different time?
ROFL @ Kee-Lo
Hehehe...
Yep. Mechanism death. Arrange a pickup with VL by telephone or eSupport and have Sony repair this for free (providing you are still within warranty!).
Sorry VL = VAIO-Link
James problem is it's oooold he'd pay a fortune.
Best trying to source one on eBay
Kee-Lo,
Yea, I did ask this before, but i didnt see it get answerd, so I thought I would try again
It is an old vaio, but its still damn good. I may try to fix it myself, its broken already, so i cant exactly do any worse eh.
I'm pretty sure my warrenty has run out by now
Thanks for the info guys'n'gals
Not much we can say really....
well why waste the money.. just put some bluetac on your laptop and stick the pin on it.. and use it whenever u wanna open your drive.
ROFL Eugene.
A superb idea that - then you never need find a paperclip again!
Lol For extra style write SONY VAIO on a piece of paper and selotape that on the piece of wire hanging out of the drive.
Well it would be VERY unique - no other VAIO looks like that!
