No picture on TV

Hi
Ive got a Sony Vaio VGN-AR11M which ive connected to my Sharp LCD TV through the HDMI connector ive got sound but no picture just a black screen and saying 1080i and 60 hz so i guess the tv is picking up the signal? ive tried changing settings on the TV and laptop but no good ive even gone out and bought a dvd player with HMDI output to see if it was the TV or cable that were faulty but they are fine im hoping its just a setting on my laptop, please help someone

Does your TV support HDCP?

Yes ive checked the specs on my Tv which is a Sharp LC32P55E and it says that it supports HDCP

Sure sounds like just a setting on your laptop.
Are you in America or elsewhere (PAL or NTSC television standard)?
In what way did you enable the HDMI output on your laptop? Using hotkeys on your keyboard or via Control Panel, ... ?

I live in England and I enabled it with function F7 keys and also tried through Nvidia control panel

do you have HDMI enabled?



EDIT: Apologies - just re-read your post. I thought it said Picture and no sound!!!!

Yeah I have sound and a black screen apart from it says at the top right corner 1080i 60Hz
