RAM measured by the Desktop Gadget.

Hi,  I recently activated the Desktop Gadget which measures the CPU and RAM usage.  I was surprised to see that the RAM dial is always somewhere between 24 and 27%.  Is that normal?

I thought that when you first start up a computer the RAM is empty, but the dial on my computer is at around 25% right from the start.

Hi Will,

It is normal - Windows and some of your other programs like Antivirus load all sorts of programs and services into memory when it boots.  1GB is quite usual.

Have a look in Task Manager -> Processes and you will see what it has loaded.

Hi Blencogo,

I checked out the Task Manager and you were right.  There were lots of programmes running as soon as I had turned the computer on.

Thanks again for your help,

Will
