Hi Guys,

has this happened to anybody and if so is there a fix, apart reconfiguiring the dam thing which over the phone with sony ive done,it took me 1 and a half hours but still the problem remained?!!?
any suggestions would be great!!
thanks!!

Hi Poesface,
If by 'reconfiguring' you mean a reset to factory settings, and this hasn't cured the problem then it would seem to be hardware related.
Is it just the screen that turns off or does the machine shut down? If just the screen going blank what do you have do to get it displaying again?
Have you checked the processor temperatures with a utility such as PC Wizard?

Hi,
I do wonder why you asked your question on a user forum if you are not prepared to answer the simple questions from a dedicated user who was trying to assist you..
Probably your best option would be to contact the official Sony Vaio support line using the number that can be located via the Contact Sony support page..

tx very much k,im new here, forgive me,thx for the advice!!
I had the same problem with my laptop. On power on the screen would stay black, no POST, nothing at all on the display. The HDD would spin up but the HDD indicator would not come on and would not boot. The DVD drive would spin up and attempt to read a disc if one was in the tray but still would not boot. I found an answer on another forum. Unplug the power, remove the battery and then hold the power button for 30 to 60 seconds. Then reattach the power and attempt a boot. It worked for me! Just shutdown, put the battery back in you're good to go. Worked for me so definitely worth a try.
