Hello, I have just asked this but do not know if it went to the right place. Reboot and select proper device comes up on my Vaio PCG-21313m. Vaio symbol comes up on start then the message. Have gone to bios and harddrive is first up. Thanks

In that case it is most likely that your hard drive needs replacement.
Have it checked by an engineer or a Sony Service Partner near you.

You are quoting an invalid model type - look on the screen surround for the correct model: -
From what you say, I presume you have a M-Series netbook with no DVD Drive and I would have thought that the boot order should be: -
1. Removable USB Devices
2. HDD
to allow booting from a USB Flash Memory or an external DVD Drive.
Do you have anything at all connected to the USB Ports?
Is the hard drive recognised in the BIOS?
Hello all.
I understood you want to restore your Vaio at it´s original setup, if this is ok you have to press F10 several times when the Vaio logo is on screen.
Doing so, you will access to the recovery partition, then follow the steps shown on screen to restore your Vaio.
My english is not too good but I hope to be helpful.
Kindly regards.
The model is a VPCM11M1E nothing in the usb ports and the harddrive is mentioned by the fact the it is first to boot, would it show up anywhere else?

Thanks for your input, pressing F10 makes no difference and the flashing dash just appears in left corner followed by the reboot and select message. If i change boot settings so that the external drives go first, then it says there is no operating system .
Yes the type and size of your hard drive should be shown in the BIOS.
If it is not there then it is your hard drive that is faulty and will probably need replacement.
When looking in bios for harddrive it is saying that it is 0 GB
