Vaio SZ2XP Battery Position
I received my Vaio SZ2XP from Sony yesterday. Everything works fine expect one thing, and that's the battery. The battery just doesn't sit properly into the slot. I have personally measured it, there is actually a 1mm gap between the battery and the slot when it is installed. They are loose such that the moment when I turn it upside down, it will make noise, as the result of the gap.
Is that normal and is it designed like that?
Thanks a lot for your time guys. I really appreciate it.
EDIT : Sry, I didn't search before. Several VAIO models also have this kind of problem. So I guess I just have to be patient with the "clonk" sound.

Hi
Welcome to the Forum.
Sounds a bit moody to me. 1mm is the rough equivalent of 20 of my papers.
Get in touch with Vaio-Link and see what they have to say if you are not entirely happy with it.
I guess there may be some small tolerence in scale between various batteries so a replacement might fit better. You never know.

Hi Twisted-Rizla,
Thanks for the prompt reply. But it seems to be normal, from this thread, I read some people even had the battery came out from the slot.

Hi Oceanboy,
Welcome to Club Vaio,
There have been posts regarding the battery being loese on the SZ1XP, see one such thread here
It would appear that it is a 'normal' design fault...:smileysad:

Hi,
I've also just (last Monday) bought a SZ2XP/C. My battery fits perfectly. Whilst looking at the back I noticed that it says 'Made In Japan'. I've read a few threads over the last couple of days that suggest the build quality of European models may not be as good as the Asian or US models. This is my first Vaio, so I have no personal experience.
My only gripe so far is the recovery disk and third party software situation.

People should also make sure they use the Lock on the Battery,it is easy to forget after you put the Battery in.
